We proudly announce that on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, Victoria Elisabeth Waldron was born at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY. She weighed 6 lbs, 15 ounces.
The events unfolded like this:
- -Christine’s water broke at home shortly after 11 pm on Tuesday evening.
- -By 3:30 am, her contractions were 4 minutes apart; Austin stayed at home with Grandma Waldron as Keith and Christine went to the hospital
- -4:00 am: arrived at the hospital…went to “triage”
- -4:15 am: 4 cm dilated, 80% effaced
- -4:41 am: Does she have preeclampsia? She has an abnormally high BP, so they take some blood to check liver levels (all was well later)
- -Transitioned to the delivery floor
- -6:00 am: only 5 cm dilated and still 80% effaced
- -6:30 am: she decides to go way of the epidural, and is later happy that she did so
- -6:52 am: no change in her presetation despite the contractions worsening
- -8:20 am: 7 cm dilated and STILL 80% effaced…MD hypothesizes that there will only be an additional hour of labor.
- -9:50 am 8cm dilated, 90% effaced…MD says that is should be an additional 45 minutes.
- -10:20 am: She can’t take it anymore…the contractions continue to feel stronger for her and this is despite the successful epidural. The MD agrees that it is time for her to have the baby
- -After about 25 mins of “pushing” Victoria Elisabeth was welcomed into the world.
I would love to write and write about earlier today, but your author has failed to sleep for the last 40 hours and needs to get to bed.
