Christine drove to New Jersey, the kids were at Grandma and Grandpa’s for the weekend, and it was raining. Oh well, time to grab the camera and go for a walk anyway. I also brought along my tripod and a large umbrella (which came in very, very handy).
When I first arrived, I made notice of a tree adjacent to the parking lot and I tried my hand at a reflection in the puddles in the empty parking lot without any luck, so I settled for an ICM.

Next, I walked to the beach in search of some images, but there was little to be had. I captured an image of the lone tree near the diving area; it turned out much better in March when I visited. I am not terribly displeased with the image of the lifeguard’s chair, though. I worked my feet to be certain that I framed the chair in the background elements as best as I could and I waited for the gulls to even out the frame before hitting the shutter button.

The bookshelf in the free library always fascinates me and sometimes the books inside tell a story. For me anyway, today was one of those days.

The rains did not stop for the first 90 mins that I was out this morning. They were unrelenting, actually, which is okay … we need the rain and were near drought-level conditions in CNY before the rains today while other regions in Upstate NY were officially in drought-status.

Once I moved off the beach, I had more coverage overhead and needed the umbrella less and less. By the time I would exit the woods, the rains would have stopped.
I walked from Green Lake to Round Lake, to the power lines, to W-trail, and along the backside of the campgrounds until I returned back to the other side of Green Lake to return back the car. Along the way, I made notice of a shapely tree that seems to have eluded me until now …

… a couple of trees in the new green growth of the late spring/early summer …
… and a pleasant little flower that was still being kissed by the moisture from the mornings rains.

In the end, I spent 3.5 hours walking about and taking pictures, none of which would have been good reason alone to go out. But it was nice to be out and I want to continue to practice. One day, when the opportunity presents itself to capture that one image that I will hold near and dear … when that day comes, I’ll be prepared.
